Sleep, sleep, sleep, eat, drink, sleep.

Night falls.

22th day – Let the games begin!

Early enemy attacks forced us to cast off as fast as we could – kiss kiss bang bang – burn those fucking mosquitos!

For we felt like spicing up the whole keks trip we dropped team nO 1 – Mo and Rene – at the first sight of civilisation. With a mission – Get whatever you can and catch up with the speed-keks. 3 hours later we saw 1 case of beer, 1 bunch of sunflowers and the two heroes swimming in the middle of the Danube.

In the ecstasy of that great success team 2 gets dropped off at another promising spot. Stalin city. In the evening towards sunset the keks crew is complete again. The second team brought lots of quarry like a big Hungarian flag. August 20 is National holiday and we definately take the chance to celebrate with them. Besides awesome fireworks, fish, hotdogs and local drinks our personal highlight – meeting the #Dude# who seemed to come straight from the movie *Big Lebowski*.

21th day – Smoke on

August 25th, 2009

Budapest 1648 to Backwater 1633

While we were having breakfast in the sun, the last preparations for the red bull air race were done. The pilons of the air race looked quite weird right in front of the parliament. We all want to be pilots as well – steering those fucking fast little planes.. SMOKE ON they said – and the spectacular flights started with a nose-dive under the brigde.

Filled up with langos we were crawling down the Danube for the rest of the day, ending up in another nice backwater. Feed the animals… Pasta cooked on the bonfire!

20th day – Slow down

August 25th, 2009

Budapest 1651,5 to 1648

Wake up, shower 4 six, breakfast, laundry resp. shopping action for the boys.

Then around 6 pm we start off to the most central landing ever directly in front of the beautiful parliament building.

19th day – Budapest at night

August 19th, 2009

Tahitótfalu 20 via Leanyfalu 16 to Budapest 1651.5

After a shopping trip in the beautiful village at the nice guy from the verggie shop, the slow bank staff and a woman behind the salami counter who anderstood all our pointing and other sign language we were off to Leanyfalu. Just 3 km later we stopped there to get Mercury some breakfast and supplies for the next few days.. We stay on the Szentrendre creek – fishing, wimming being happy – until just before Budapest we were floating on the “big Danube” again.

We arrived at the Wiking Yacht Club on the outskirts of Budapest. Secretary and other discriminating staff did not really wecome us at the port. Nevertheless we had a great night partying downtown and just returned from Balkan Beats (Club Gődőr) in the morning under bright blue sky – 2 live bands heated it all up before a dj (in some songs accompanied by a trumpet) got the night going.. Everyone was jumping around – dancing, meeting new people.. Just an awesome night!

18th day – Re-opening of the sun-deck

colIsland nearby Esztergom 1716 to Tahitótfalu 20 (Szentendre creek)

Refreshing bath before breakfast. For the first tim efor weeks we had fresh coffee with a delicious milk froth!

Swimming, laughing, cutting hair, letting th esun carress our skin, we had stunning views: The Szentendre creek is a lovely part of the trip! Bays, beaches and all those bushy trees which seem to be so fluffy that you wanna curl up in their leaves…

Sunday evening we had a little excursion (petrol, food and curiosity of course): elderly people with scarves and flower-peppered dresses were selling flowers, apples and pears – and huge water- melons on the side of the road.. We collected some nice ripe fruitsfrom the edge of the street, the trees were full of them..

No petrol, so we will go and get it a bit further downstream tomorrow. Tahitótfalu is a beautiful small village, remote and nice, we were close to even buy 2 vietnamese pigs!

17th day – paradise island and bon-fire night

August 19th, 2009

Backwater 1745 to Island nearby Esztergom 1716

When we were stretching out yawning , we got strange news from a brave guy approaching by canoe: two of our friends seemed to look for us in a camp ground nearby – handing out flyers to everyone! Weird.. We have expected them to come on bord in Budapest! However, when we went to that place to go and get them, a man tried to give us “fries” instead of “friends” – but they were gone. We were continuing our way downstream when a ear-piercing sound woke us up in the end.. Sleepy (because they had been driving the whole night through) the guys were crawling around in the warm sand.. After a short stop in Esztergom, we had the second amazing wild camping nature highlight in a row! Having defended us against fucking nasty mosquitos, we had a dinner which was pretty deserved, cooked ocer a big fat bon-fire.. It was to be a long night playing ring of fire..

16th day – Dobre, dobre

August 19th, 2009

Mo was having a nice slovakian conversation being still sleepy (”elektro, elektro” – “dobre, dobre” – “drink? water drink?” “njem napi, njem napi”) which tells him in first line not to drink the tab water. After a phone call, the water suddenly turned into drinking water! For we had to go into town, we stopped at a posh landing stage surrounded by tennis courts, two fat houses and a super professionally equipped “club house”.. The guardian and us decided in consense that our Keks can stay exactly 1.5 hrs – but look! Until 3:30 pm! Dobre, dobre..

The way was full of obstacles, all we wanted was an open internet cafe, someone draw us a map: “It*s a hotel” – that was where she was – ” It*s a park” – she pointed at the piece of paper again – ” it*s a internet cafe!”. We hurried there, found it closed and finally occupied 3 computers to keep this site updated, everyone working concentratedly and staring at the screens.. Our excellent fishing skills were stopped in a quite abrupt way: A motor boat cut our rod string – no fish in the keks*s  pan..

When the sun came down we found an awesome beach where we wanted to drop anchor that night. Problems with the current and waves pushing us against the sandy ground forced us to anchor right in the middle of a beautiful backwater just around the corner.. What a wonderful place to fall asleep and see the sun again in the morning..

14th day – day of the dam

August 14th, 2009

0AnlegerSeeBratislava 1865 to Cilistov Gabcikovo-Channel 32

We started off in the strong current which reduced more and more until we found ourselves in the huge Cunovo dam. Fortunately, the wind was not too strong, so the Keks was chugging slowly but surely througha surreal landscape with stony “lake-marks” which showed us the way..

Our stop for the night was a abandoned landing stage where grid and water wrote their own history.. Its shabby look had its own beauty – though we first had to get used to the weird smell..

13th day – Big wave keksing and buoy action

August 14th, 2009

Vienna 1926 to Bratislava 1865

We had some trouble with our friend the washing machine and our own stupidity: first the machine did notwant to be in our services, then two of us thought too much or less and everytime we went to check it took us about 20 minutes…

Finally, we casted off. With us on bord: Ines. She drove us through the biggest wave so far, cool and relaxed not knowing the circumstances before.. That wave broke in our home, keks was shaking and all our herbs were swimming in their cages feeling like water plants. Enjoying a funny “taxi” ride to the station in Bratislava, we were stunned by the big red sun (hanging over ghostyy sovyet apartment blocks, huge sunflower fields) and slovakian pop music…

Tje evening flair, the beautiful houses and buildings in the city center and all the colourful illuminations were really breath- taking.
